Mountain

MountainA mountain is a large land form that stretches above the surrounding land in a limited area usually in the form of a peak. A mountain is also define as natural elevation of the earth surface rising more or less abruptly from the surrounding level and attaining an altitude which relatively to the adjacent elevation, is impressive or notable. A mountain is usually produced by the movement of lithospheric plates, either orogenic movement or epeirogenic movement.
Mountain is also known by "Himalaya" in Nepal. Himalaya is a Sanskrit for "abode of snow"from hima,"snow" and alaya,"abode". The Himalayas are the world's tallest mountains, towering more than five miles above sea level. The Himalaya means "home of snow"because the tallest peaks of Himalayas are always capped with snow.No plants grow near the mountains peak due to powerful winds, extremely cold temperature, and a lack of oxygen. People are unable to breath 20,000 feet above sea level because there is not enough oxygen in the atmosphere. For Tibetans, Nepalese, Indians and many of the other inhabitants of the Himalayas, the mountain continue to be the predominant factor in their lives. The Himalayas represent the awe-inspiring power, beauty, and grandeur of nature.
