Mountain people of Nepal

The Himalatan PeopleThe Sherpas are the tigers of the mountain. The Sherpas are the most famous of Nepalese people together with the brave Gurkha soilders. Sherpas migrated from the Tibeta to the uninh Solu-Khumbu region in the northeast corner of Nepal around in the 16th century. during that time Sherpas crossed the Tibetan border to trade yak meat and crops. In 1880, they introduction potato to the region, which is the main sourch of agriculture even today.

Giving their background they practice the Tibetan from of Buddhism before coming into contact with western civilization. they were simply farmer, traders and yak herders. Sherpas speak a Tibetan language rather than the national Nepali language and they have no written language. Sherpas, mountain people have learned to live in steep, isolated and sometimes dangerous landscapes. Sherpas get from place to place on foot paths. That means where ever they need to transport anything such as firewood, produce or building materials, it goes on their yaks or their back.

Many Sherpas, especially poorer ones, carry heavy loads from a young age. Some Sherpas also earn extra money as porters on mountain climbs. While most visitors to the region would suffer from altitude sickness, due to lack of oxygen delivered to tissues. Sherpa's bodies are acclimated to it. In fact, some Sherpas have summited Mount Everest without the additional supply of oxygen.
